Omell galleries have been exhibiting David’s work for over 25 years, during which time he has become recognised as one of the finest traditional landscape painters of the modern era. In 2002, he was awarded the Fine Art Trade Guild’s highest accolade as the best-selling published artist in the United Kingdom, after numerous placings in the top ten throughout previous years.
Although he is well known for his portrayal of the English seasons, a special exhibition titled "Dipnall's Year" was his first depicting the passage of the seasons month by month, with an additional painting for each season.
The special September painting was also honoured with a centrepiece painting, as the "host" month.
The following are the five main paintings from the "Dipnall's Year" exhibition - to see the remainder of the paintings from each month, please select Dipnall’s Year from the menu on the left.
September Lodge
The russet tones of late summer begin to blend with the soft haze of a September afternoon. The walk back to the lodge through the meadow is still warm underfoot, but Autumn hides in the woods, waiting.

Winter
A rare snowfall on these southern water meadows reduces the pallette to a tranquil hue, as the sunset adds a warm kiss to the end of a crisp winter’s day.

Spring
Early May sunlight lifts the Winter moisture from the forest floor. The Bluebells revel in their moment of glory.

Summer
A salty breeze on a glorious summer day. We’ll walk past the Headland for our picnic, and come back along the beach.

Autumn
Blue autumn mists allow just enough sunlight through to gild the scene.
