Since David decided to change the direction of his career from that of a successful natural history illustrator to one of a wildlife artist his career has gone from strength to strength. From his early years of exhibiting at galleries in his home town of Bournemouth he has gone on to exhibit at galleries and venues across the country with many shows completely selling out.
David has worked very closely with Monkey World in Dorset as their artist in residence for over 7 years and has become renowned for his drawings off the great apes. Having studied all of the great apes in detail he not only enjoys drawing them but has received many accolades from world renowned experts. David believes his study of Charlie, a rescued Spanish beach chimp is one of his finest to date. "Drawing Charlie was a great challenge as I knew I had to try and capture some of his wonderful personality."
David published his first book in 2007 "Pencils Patience and Primates", an autobiographical work with a collection of many of his drawings to date. "Pencils, Patience and Primates is a must for artists young or old who have a passion for their work......he is the artistic explorer of the natural world" Jim and Alison Cronin - Monkey World.
Although David supports many wildlife charities, he also believes it is important to support other worthwhile causes and is currently working with Wessex Heartbeat a charity based at Southampton Hosptial and is holding an exhibition with them in November of this year.
