This is the familiar pose of a meerkat taking its turn to keep a lookout for predators and danger to the family group. What strikes me most about meerkats when drawing them is how the texture of their fur differs from most other small animals. It is dense and dark underneath with a top coat that is light, whispy, and spikey. Drawing the fur of an animal like this is more of a task of illustrating many tiny triangular shapes with different degrees of shading.
