I just love to paint with Acrylic and because this medium dries quickly it is necessary to work fairly fast. All my work is produced in the studio as the varying elements affect the drying speed of the paint, I like to push the wet paint around to discover new feelings.

Painting flowers is such a wonderful way to spend my days, I sometimes feel that I have been sitting in a magical garden for hours.

Trying new blooms is very exciting and I can’t wait to get out my sketch book to repeat a petal or a leaf over and over again until I get just the right blend of colour and movement in the strokes. I allow the brush and paint to do all the work and I enjoy the ride. Preferring to keep my work simple and clean I use the white space of the canvas as a foil for the vibrant colours of the flowers and foliage.

It is very interesting to discover how different a blossom can look & feel, painted on a variety of surfaces. Experimenting with furniture painting has interested me over the past year and I also love the way a paintbrush glides over the wax surface of a candle, the end result has a more ethereal quality.
