Dominique’s remarkably naturalistic watercolours of animal subjects are projected against a stark white background, which not only creates a dramatic graphic image, but conveys her modern aesthetic. Each image has a snap-shot quality, capturing the personality of each animal and imparting humour, character and whimsy to many of her pieces.

At the same time, the painstaking realism with which her paintings are executed reflects her own intense love and respect for animals. Indeed, her love of dogs in particular has resulted in sought after commission work and her portraits in this area provide a contemporary spin on her more traditional wildlife painting.

“My main influence is the subject matter itself”, Dominique explains. “I often spend hours watching a single or group of animals waiting for that precise moment when they use a particular facial expression, or do something that captures the imagination”.

Dominique has quickly become a highly acclaimed wildlife artist and has exhibited her work widely throughout the United Kingdom. Consequently her paintings are now sought out by international collectors and art dealers. Originally from Jamaica, Dominique was deeply influenced by the community of artists in her close knit neighbourhood and developed an interest in wildlife art from an early age. She currently divides her time between London and Hampshire.
