Turtles have always been the love of my artistic life and putting them on paper never ceases to give me great pleasure and enjoyment. Despite the fact that herpetology is my specialist subject, it makes it no less a task to capture the detail and varying textures present in these creatures. Whilst Out to Sea depicts three juvenile Green Turtles making their first perilous journey to the ocean, I also have a pet Carolina Box turtle. She is called “Pud” because when she retracts her head into her shell, she reminds me of a Christmas pudding.
