All my work is produced in the studio as the varying elements affect the drying speed of the paint, I like to push the wet paint around to discover new feelings. Painting flowers is such a wonderful way to spend my days, I sometimes feel that I have been sitting in a magical garden for hours. Jennifer Reed working in her studio Trying new blooms is very exciting and I can’t wait to get out my sketch book to repeat a petal or a leaf over and over again until I get just the right blend of colour and movement in the strokes. I allow the brush and paint to do all the work and I enjoy the ride. Preferring to keep my work simple and clean I use the white space of the canvas as a foil for the vibrant colours of the flowers and foliage. It is very interesting to discover how different a blossom can look & feel, painted on a variety of surfaces. Experimenting with furniture painting has interested me over the past year and I also love the way a paintbrush glides over the wax surface of a candle, the end result has a more ethereal quality.
